Christ, the Bridegroom The term Bridegroom, appears many times throughout the New Testament: John 3:29, Matthew 9:15, Mark 2:19, Luke 5:34. As Bishop Robert Barron wrote, "Jesus is the wedding of heaven and earth, the marriage of divinity and humanity; He is the bridegroom and the Church is the bride.
