Johnny Appleseed was born John Chapman in Massachusetts in 1774. As a young man, Johnny gave up his worldly possessions to pursue his calling --- to love and care for others and the environment and to be an unofficial missionary for the Swedenborgian Church. With his Bible in hand and apple seeds in a pouch, he left home and headed west planting apple seeds and spreading love and the Word of God. Read "Lessons from Johnny Appleseed" by Debbe Kennedy A children's song by Disney Oh, the Lord's been good to me. I owe the Lord so much Oh, here am I 'neath the blue, I wake up every day as happy as can be |
